IT’S GRADUATION WEEK!
In just 7 weeks our Tuesday Beginners have went from learning how to wind a bobbin to wearing their first garment! Lets celebrate their achievements.
Congratulations to Eve, Dani, Aoife, Beth, Stephanie, Ruth and Irene (not pictured)
All students are given the freedom to make a different pattern. With guidance everyone made a great choice for Beginner.
Eve chose a silky satin and cut it on the bias! A challenge for Beginner level, but Eve handled the slippery fabric with ease, lined the skirt and used the overlocker to create a rolled hem. She even had time to cut another colourway at home and French seam the sides.
Dani selected the New Look 6892 blouse pattern. After making a calico toile for fit she cut her light blue broderie anglaise. This beautiful style and fabric are perfect for a summer wardrobe. You can shop Dani’s pattern in our online store.
Aoife chose a Vintage Simplicity 1725 skirt pattern and used a cotton poplin to make a full length skirt. She added a zip, button and buttonhole.
Beth chose a pleated cropped trouser pattern with box pleats, a zip and waistband. A toile was sewn up first to approve design and fit and then cut in a summery denim chambray. With a few details to complete, Beth will be modelling her garment at the weekend.
Stephanie sewed up a jazzy pair of PJ’s using Simplicity 1563 pattern. After making her toile, she learnt how to make alterations to her pattern. She made the waistband with bias binding, elastic and a ribbon trim. You can shop Stephanie’s pattern in our online store.
Ruth made the JOY DRESS for her young daughter which was from my own pattern stash. She selected a fine needle cord, added applique, trims, sewed on buttons and made buttonholes.
