If the student arrives late for any reason, the class will still end at the time booked. Colour and Cloth has a full teaching schedule and lateness has a knock-on effect for other students.

Having found Colour & Cloth online, Christine directed me to Brian who kindly overhauled and serviced my lovely treasure of a find: (a beautiful hand crank sewing machine "Sylvia" made by Harrods) and traced the model number back to 1876. The quick turnaround on servicing and knowledge of machines is impressive in itself and Brian's joy on seeing such a machine was obvious.By way of a one to one lesson, Christine took me through the absolute basics of sewing from how to thread "Sylvia" to stitching in various forms. She has also guided me in the best threads and fabrics to use to get the best from this older machine.Christine's knowledge and genuine passion of fabrics and sewing is infectious and her patience with me as the beginner has set me up to find joy in using this lovely instrument.Thank you Brian and Christine.

Absolutely loved learning to sew with Christine. She's so patient and clear, and helps each student develope their own style.I took the beginners' course and the intermediate course and went from knowing literally nothing about sewing to being able to make my own clothes, even changing patterns to suit my shape and look.If you're thinking about learning to sew, I say definitely go for it. And Christine's course at Colour and Cloth is a great place to start.

Highly recommend the overlocker course. Great tuition, everyone learns regardless of skill level. Learned lots of better ways to use my machine. I realised some bad habits I had and learned how to correct them which was really useful. My stitching is much better now. Fun class and a lovely group.Christine is an excellent teacher and very thorough. Christine makes sure everyone understands and checks everyone one by one as we worked.Looking forward to future courses.

Having bought a vintage semi-industrial Viking Husqvarna sewing machine to aid me in my leather craft hobby I decided I should get some lessons on how to use it properly. The girl I bought the machine from told me Colour and Cloth had taught her, so I thought I would give it a go. I was a little nervous, as a man, joining a sewing class, but loved every minute of the beginners course. Christine is a great teacher, makes you feel at ease and happily assists you when you need help. She is so passionate about what she does and clearly loves watching people develop a love for creating their own clothes from scratch. I enrolled thinking I'd learn a few basic skills to use my sewing machine, but left with a beautiful me-made Harris Tweed pullover coat, and a few new friends!
