LET’S MEET ROSIE
Rosie signed up for the RE-STYLE Mend and Alter your Clothes course for the past two seasons after completing her One Day Beginner workshop in 2023. Rosie has been creating some really unique pieces and each week brings a full bag of charity hauls to the table for transforming! Rosie has a natural flair for fashion and has a magpie’s eye for spotting charity shop gems with great potential!
It is a joy to encourage her passion for fashion, design and creativity.
This course has a great sense of comradeship as we encourage group conversation and feedback on each students progress – checking in with how the transformations are going. Its such an encouraging course and gives great satisfaction saving another garment from landfill.
Conor, Alison, Stephen, Eileen, Karen and Valerie have attended this course and I will be show casing their makes and remakes later in the year.
ABOUT THE SHIRT TRANSFORMATION
Rosie had purchased a basic linen long blue and white shirt from a local fair. It was pretty straight up and down and needed a design re-awakening!
I have collated folders of upcycled and restyle images so after sharing these images with Rosie, she opted to crop the length of the shirt and use the length to make cuff frills.
She wanted to go BIG with the volumne, which we all encouraged – it was so much fun seeing it all come together. Once Rosie learned how to make a frill there was no stopping her! I love her design ensuring that the button placket was in the same place on both sleeves. Spreading the frills into the sleeve area was a mammoth task and both lots of pins and hand tacking made this a little easier.
You can see that Rosie really loves frills as the yellow dress she is wearing has frills on it also.
In class she also made a second frilled shirt. I’m wondering what Rosie has up her sleeve next to make?!
