Skill Level: A basic knowledge of sewing is required for this class.

Your Creative Guide: Christine’s Inspirational Touch Get ready to embark on a journey of design, colour, texture, and pattern with our experienced instructor, Christine. She brings not only her expertise but also a collection of her own exquisite cushions and creative mood boards to spark your imagination.

Hands-On, Minds-On Experience This workshop is a harmonious blend of demonstration and practical application. Christine will guide you through the intricacies of design decisions and construction elements, empowering you to bring your vision to life. By the end of the day, you’ll proudly walk away with a completed cushion, your personalized paper pattern, and a head buzzing with ideas to revitalize your home.

Capture Your Journey: Note-taking and Photography Feel free to bring your notebooks and cameras! Note-taking and photography are not just encouraged but highly recommended. We want you to capture every moment of your creative process and take home a visual diary of your newfound skills.

Interactive and Engaging: Ask Away! This workshop is all about you. Christine welcomes your questions and encourages an open dialogue throughout the day. Your journey is as unique as your design, so feel free to seek guidance and share your insights.

  • Pull ideas together to create a mood-board
  • Select fabrics for a coordinating or clashing colour scheme
  • Insert an invisible zip
  • Make your own bias binding
  • Make piping and add to your cushion.
  • Make a covered button, buttonhole and attach button
  • Make an envelope back
  • How to re-cover existing seat covers

 

  • Cotton fabric in a interior weight.  You can choose a different colour for the front and back of the cushion if you prefer. 1/2 metre of each colour is plenty.

  • 1 x 16-inch invisible zip or dress zip.

  • 1 x 16 inch cushion pad. Larger size if you wish to make a larger cushion.

  • 2 metres of 5mm piping cord (more if you are making a larger cushion)

  • 2 metres of bias binding (more if you are making a larger cushion)

  • 3 buttons of your choice to work with your fabric – about the size of a 2 pence piece.

  • Our studio is located above a fabric store should you need to purchase anything on the day.

 

Sewing machines and sewing equipment can be provided. We have a mixture of modern and vintage sewing machines, an overlocker (serger) and a coverstitch machine.

However, you are encouraged to bring your own sewing machine so you will be more familiar with it. It must be in working order before your workshop commences. If it requires serviced or repaired beforehand, we can do that for you, CLICK HERE to book in.
