For experienced sewists ready to refine their craft, this course focuses on precision, tailoring techniques, creative problem-solving and developing your own designs and style. You'll explore more complex construction methods, work with challenging fabrics, and learn to adapt and personalise patterns to create professional-quality garments. Each student will work on their own project, which they get to choose with guidance from Christine.
  • Pattern drafting and making adjustments for a custom fit
  • Tailoring techniques, including interfacing, underlining, and structure
  • Working with challenging fabrics such as silk, leather, or heavy wools
  • Advanced techniques and skills appropriate to your chosen project
  • Lining a garment
  • Advanced pressing and finishing techniques for a couture-quality result
  • Fitting adjustments and troubleshooting common construction issues
  • Design adaptation: modifying an existing pattern to create a new style Working through a fully finished, tailored garment or advanced project
  • Your own sewing machine, foot pedal and manual
  • Your machine must be in full working order — if you'd like us to service it beforehand, we can arrange this in advance
  • Your sewing kit, if you have one
