MICHELLE has been attending class for 3 seasons and is such a great student to teach. She is bubbly, stylish and sassy.
Michelle had just started learning to sew and wanted to alter jeans for her height and restyle and make clothes to suit her shape.
From making this ditsy floral cami in class, altering jeans, altering straps on jumpsuits Michelle dived into making her own bodice block from her measurements.
Combining her knowledge of alterations, sewing from a bought pattern, constructing her own block pattern and restyling duvets into skirts there really is no stopping this lady!
Inspired by the Great British Sewing Bee, and with gifts of bobbins and threads from her mum, Michelle has embraced both sewing new clothes and altering current clothes to suit her figure. That’s a lot of skills learned in such a short time.
She had already bought some satin fabric and is planning her next project.
MICHELLE’S MACHINES
Michelle uses a Brother sewing machine – I highly recommend this one which is very similar. Attached to Michelle’s machine is her blue pincushion which we all loved – he’s called ‘Bubbles’!
After using the overlocker in class, Michelle invested in an overlocker. It gives a professional finish and saves time when you have a lot of projects to get through. This is the overlocker Michelle bought: the Brother M343
Michelle’s PJ set pattern was from The Great British Sewing Bee – Back to Basics book. The pattern she used is on page 84.
HAS MICHELLE INSPIRED YOU TO START SEWING?
I had a fantastic group of students in this seasons Restyle Course – Michelle, Stephen, Chloe, Molly and Kerry each with fabulous upcycles and restyles. The group photograph shows how much fun we all had.
Colour and Cloth teach all levels of Sewing Courses and Workshops so no matter what level you are at, there is no better time to start than now. How to create styles like Michelle, starts with learning how to thread your machine and then you are on your new creative journey. The New dates for our RESTYLE Mend and Alter Your Clothes Course are ready for booking.
