What is private tuition?
Private sewing tuition is a completely personalised learning experience — just you and Christine. You set the pace, choose the project and focus on exactly the skills you want to develop.
Christine demonstrates, guides and teaches — while you carry out the work. You leave each session with real, practical skills and a project that's genuinely yours.
Whether you're picking up a needle for the first time, working on a GCSE portfolio or exploring sewing for a business idea — Christine adapts every session entirely around you.
"Learn in a relaxed and creative environment with a professional tutor who is patient, passionate and genuinely invested in your progress." — Christine

Who is it for?
Private tuition suits everyone — from complete beginners to experienced sewers wanting to refine specific skills.
All ages and all levels welcome. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced sewer wanting to master a new technique — Christine adapts to you entirely.
Build your portfolio with expert guidance. Christine has helped dozens of students achieve outstanding results — from GCSE Art & Design through to Degree level Textiles and Fashion.
Thinking of starting a small sewing business or fashion project? One-to-one sessions give you the focused skills and confidence to make it happen professionally.
Christine offers dedicated tuition for students studying Art & Design, Textiles and Fashion at exam level — helping build portfolios, develop garment construction skills and achieve the grades you're working towards.
What you'll learn
Every session is shaped around you — but here's what students typically develop during private tuition with Christine.
How to read, adapt and follow sewing patterns — and adjust garments to fit your body perfectly.
Understanding different fabric types, when to use them and how to get the very best from your tools and materials.
The professional finishing touches that elevate a garment from homemade to truly handcrafted.
Get the absolute best from your machine — tension, stitch selection, troubleshooting and basic maintenance.
Explore your individual creativity through fashion flair and design thinking — from initial concept through to a finished garment that reflects your own style and vision. This is where sewing becomes self-expression.
Christine regularly writes about the journeys of her private tuition students — from first-time sewers finding their confidence to GCSE students achieving outstanding portfolio results. Their stories are the best testament to what one-to-one tuition can do.

I've just completed a 6 week beginners course with Christine in Colour and Cloth. I had never used a sewing machine before booking the course and was nervous going into it but Christine put me at ease from the very beginning. The course was really enjoyable and the 6 weeks flew in, I learned so much during my time and made a lovely skirt for myself. I would definitely recommend Colour and Cloth to anyone interested in sewing. Christine's knowledge was invaluable and I will definitely be booking another course.Posted on Google![]()

Left two sewing machines in with Brian for repair/servicing. His knowledge and attention to detail was very reassuring. Both machines are now working perfectly. I would thoroughly recommend.Posted on Google![]()

This was such a wonderful experience! The skills and knowledge I have taken away will propel any future creations immensely. I’ll never look at the Sewing Bee in the same light! I honestly believe these are life skills, honed and taught in the most easily understood way by Christine… such an honestly beautiful person who truly has the patience of a saint. These past 6 weeks will stay with me a lifetime… tho I do hope to complete another course at some stage again. Highly recommend to anyone with no or a lot of sewing skill or knowledge. You will thoroughly love it! Fabulous!!! Also had my sewing machine given the once over… cleaned and serviced… by Brian - again, highly recommend! My sewing machine now runs so smoothly, with an excellent timely turnaround. Thank you both of you!Posted on Google![]()

I had such a lovely time with Christine. She helped me on a mission to adjust and repair jeans I had been looking to have fixed for a long time. Christine's advice was incredible and I went home and completed the adjustments. I also bought a fabulous sewing machine which has been brilliantPosted on Google![]()
