New to sewing? This course is designed to take you from complete beginner to confident stitcher. Over six relaxed, hands-on sessions, you'll get to know your machine, build core skills, and complete your first simple makes — all in a friendly, supportive small-group setting. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm! Each student will work on their own project, which they get to choose with guidance from Christine.
  • How to set up, thread, and use a sewing machine safely and confidently
  • Basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting common issues
  •  Understanding fabric types and choosing the right one for a project
  •  Reading and following a simple sewing pattern
  • Cutting out fabric accurately using patterns
  • Straight stitching, seams, and seam finishes
  • Pressing techniques for professional-looking results
  • Sewing curves, corners, and simple hems
  • Completing one project of your choice
  • Your own sewing machine, foot pedal and manual.  If you do not have a sewing machine, please look at our range of Beginner Sewing machines in our online shop.
  • Your machine must be in full working order — if you'd like us to service it beforehand, we can arrange this in advance
  • Your sewing kit, if you have one
  • A full course companion list is included in your booking confirmation email — please check this closer to the day
